Art is Healing

process

Susan’s art is inspired by nature as she explores wildlife and landscapes on her daily walks. She brings elements of her story and other people’s story into her art. She has sacred walks that allow her to be close to God’s creation. This moves her heart to share her love of nature creatively. She strives to show the beauty of nature in its simplicity and complexity through layers in her art work. Once Susan is inspired she creates mostly on paper with pastel, oil pastel, charcoal, and pen and ink.

“My art takes me into vast directions of exploration. I explore with a range of materials, from oil pastel, pastel, charcoal, and pen and ink. From landscapes to flora, I see the abundance nature has to offer me to create on paper the story I want to tell! With texture, marks, and contrast I can evoke an emotional connection with the viewer.” – Susan Tolonen
